Moving Hands animation

We use traditional stop-frame animation techniques where participants get hands on experience of making a short film from beginning to end.

Production Schedule

Day 1
Introduction of equipment and animation techniques
Discussion of ideas for animated story.
Demonstation of simple animation and editing techniques.
Having a play under camera filming themselves and using objects, drawings, clay and cutouts.
Looking at storyboards and creating their own based on using appropriate techniques

Day 2
Planning/ making sessions
Developing a single storyboard including combined ideas.
Demonstrations and the making of background sets and character models using photographs, cardboard, flat cut outs, drawings and plasticine.

Day 3
Planning/ making sessions
Setting up for filming and sound recording. Working in teams under camera and introducing aspects of postproduction.
Continued collection and making of material to be used in the film including sound effects, speech scripts, background music.

Day 4
Filming and audio
Filming continues. Sound dubbing begins.
Titles and credits made
Preview Invitations/ posters for screening event.

Day 5
Filming and audio (An extra day for tying up loose ends!)
Filming any extra bits needed
editing and sound dubbing continues.
A chance for participants to review what’s been captured.
Designing DVD cover/ posters for screening event etc
