Junk Playgrounds

Team: Thamsanqa Hlela, Bronwyn Lace, Nozipho Gloria Mbhele, Nozipho
Zulu and Paul Sibisi

Site: 'Little Cato Manor'. Community of around 64 families in the
'Cato Manor' township, situated at the corner of Booth and Bellaire
road, opposite the Cato Manor cricket grounds.

Objective: To create and transform the space into a child friendly
environment through the use of mobile play elements, container gardens
and general clean up and landscaping. The community is active in
working together with us to reshape the space. Any elements we add to
the space will be mobile as slowly but surely the people of this
township are being moved to official housing. We will also be
educating the children around littering, the need to recycle and
sustainable container vegetable gardening with the creation of compost
heaps.
