The high visibility afforded by a mobile movie-projector/ beamer proved hard to resist, especially with material readily at hand. This has proved inspired. In a parallel Cascoland- Mafikeng project, the results of a “WHAT IS YOUR DREAM FOR MAFIKENG?” poll are a vindication. Many a local resident has expressed a desire for a cinema amongst very clearly more pressing wants.
Lifeline-Mafikeng, Cascoland’s partner during their tenure in the city, provided the trailer. The mobile beamer falls neatly into Lifeline-Mafikeng’s mandate which comprises a good number of outreach projects. The mobile beamer is multi-functional – the high umpire’s chair gives high visibility and attracts on-lookers, it is a mobile cinema and also has a good quality P.A. system for playing music and making public announcements. Ultimately at the culmination of the Cascoland-Mafikeng project, bottled gas coupled to a stove will make a mobile kitchen of an already many purpose trailer
After this Cascoland project is over the Mobile Unit will be donated to Lifeline so their counselors can use it to start spreading their word through new media.
