A New Exhibition Space in Mafikeng

In collaboration with Mathhew Ndlovu
The exhibitionspace was built by Mathew Ndlovu and his apprentice Lebogang Mokonopi. Inside Jimmy Ogonga exhibited a selection of photographs shot in Mafikeng.
Mathew Ndlovu describes himself as a Mafikeng resident who provides an invaluable service to those who straddle the breadline. Recycled wooden pallets from a potato farm on the Vryburg road to the south of this city serve as the intrepid carpenter’s material. Apparent is that Mathew builds affordable housing from what most others consider waste, for the many building contractors and mine-workers now resident in the area. The template used is that of a Wendy house or tool-shed with corrugated iron roofing.
