Lengths of shade cloth wrapped around three pillars in the forest of concrete columns surrounding Mmabatho stadium is a manner of redefining space typical of the Cascoland ideology. Other Cascoland artists have activated the this particular reclaimed space with a cinema that screens documentary and feature films on the theme of soccer (provided by Plexus Fims and Soccer Cinema), Cascoland-produced short films as well as footage taken from soccer fans at the Mmabatho Public Viewing Area. Bart Groenewegen’s Pop up Corn further animates the viewers by surprising them with freshly baked pop corn, offered with a pinch of salt through a flap cut out of the shade cloth film screen.
